Why do the windows "cry"?
The formation of condensation on windows in cold weatheryear is very common. "Cry" and the usual windows in wooden frames, and modern plastic double-glazed windows. Why is this happening? Why do the windows cry? Let's look at the most likely causes of condensation on the windows and how to fix this problem.
The reasons for the formation of condensate
It's all about physics. "Tears" on the windows is a condensate that forms during the transition of water from the gaseous state to the liquid state. Why does condensate appear on windows? Because they are a kind of border between the open space and the room. Different humidity and different temperatures on both sides of this boundary cause condensation. This barrier is thin and unlike walls it can freeze. The colder the window glass, the higher the humidity in the room, the more likely that the windows will start to "cry." But the reasons that trigger this process can be several:
- The battery is covered with a sill.
- Insufficient ventilation in the room or even its absence.
- High sealing.
- Indoor flowers.
- Single-compartment glass.
- Errors of installation of a double-glazed window.
- Summer mode of a plastic window.
- Manufacturing defect.
Most of these causes will be eliminated easily. In some cases, it is necessary to eliminate the mistakes of negligent builders or manufacturers.
Elimination of causes of condensation
Household Causes
If the window sill is so wide that it is completelyisolates the flow of warm air, you need to reduce its width. If for some reason this can not be done, then just put any heater that performs the battery function closer to the window. This way you will provide warm air to the windows.
If there are room flowers on your windowsill, they can also provoke fogging windows. Try to rearrange the flower pots elsewhere. Perhaps after that your windows will stop "crying".
Check the ventilation grilles in the room. If they are clogged with dust, then clean them. And even better - clean the vent and replace the grilles.
Often ventilate the room. Sealed plastic bags increase the humidity. Therefore, three or four times a day for a couple of minutes, open the pane windows or move the pane to the ventilation mode.
If your plastic window is equipped with the function of seasonal transfer, then in the cold season necessarily translate the fittings into winter mode. This way you will increase the thermal insulation of the window.
If you saved on the cost of windows and purchasedsingle-chamber double-glazed windows, it will most likely collect condensate. If none of the above methods help remove condensate, replace the double-glazed window (but not the window!). It will help to cope with this problem and additional heating of the window.
If there are any crevices when installing the window, then fix them! Thus, you with a high degree of probability eliminate the effect of fogging windows.
It is impossible to eliminate the manufacturing marriage by yourself. Here the only way out is to change the window itself. So boldly make claims to the seller or the manufacturer.
